Breaking the Habit

I've decided it's time to stop biting my fingernails, which I've done since I was 5. It's a nasty habit that has probably led to most of the illnesses I've had in my life. So far, it's proved to be harder than quitting smoking.

I've tried nail polish, and it didn't even slow me down.

Any tips?

I didn't realize until today how much blog-land needed me. Christ, you people are boring!

Gee, you were tight we were really missing out on some really mesmerizing stuff!

Keep a pair of needle nose pliers in your pocket. Every time you find yourself chewing on a finger nail take the pliers out of your pocket and pull out the nail.

Should solve your problems one way or another.

soap or habanero sauce under your nails. Don't forget to not rub your eyes!

I agree with Frye, this blog about finger nails is about as exciting to read as Doc's blog on the opera.

Sorry Doc if you are reading T's blog.

By the way Taylor, I will take you up on the state match sprint bet. T set out the challange last night during training that he would bet a case of beer that he could beat them at state match sprint. I figured this would provide good motivation for winter training to throw it out now.

I believe your exact words were "I think it's a little early in the season for challenges."

Sascha is right: soap, habanero, vinegar, etc. Unless you actually enjoy the taste of those things.

Which begs the question--by wearing nail polish, maybe you are reinforcing the bad habit? When I was 5, in tandem with applying the unsavory items listed above, my mom bribed me to stop biting my nails by promising to buy me nail polish as a reward. So: if you stop biting your fingernails, I will by you some nail polish to match the new team kit. :P
